High quality 300gsm woven Kevlar® fabric reinforcement using genuine Dupont® Kevlar® yarn in a 2x2 twill weave for good drapabily.
This high performance aramid cloth can be used on its own to make panels with maximum impact strength or used in combination to add impact strength to carbon or glass fibre laminates in applications such as motorsport panels, canoes, kayaks etc.

This Kevlar® brand heavyweight 300g kevlar cloth 2/2 twill weave can be used on its own or in conjunction with other reinforcement fabrics (such as carbon fibre) to achieve a very strong and impact resilient composite.
Kevlar® provides very high resistance to impact and abrasion and is much more resilient to fracture separation than other reinforcements (including carbon fibre).
Twill Kevlar® cloth can be laminated in just the same way as carbon fibre. It is suitable for use in wet-lay, vacuum bagging or resin infusion.
For maximum performance Kevlar® should always be laminated with Epoxy resin.
Where a thinner fabric is required, we also stock a Aramid Cloth Fabric Satin Weave 175g.

Handling and Storage
Kevlar is sensitive to UV light so we recommend storing in a dark place to minimise the chance of UV degradation. For further protection on finished parts, a UV resistant lacquer, such as our FANTOM CLEAR CX will add further protection.

For wet-lay lamination you will use a bit more resin than the weight of the fabric. A typical fibre resin ratio for Aramid based fabrics is 45/55. For example, with a 300gsm cloth, for 1 square metre you will have 300g of fabric and thus will need 367g of resin to wet it out, plus a small amount of wastage for the brush and mixing pot.
We do not currently stock any hybrid pre-pregs either as carbon-aramid mix or pure aramid
No. Our Kevlar Fabric is only available in the classic Kevlar yellow.
Aramid and Diolen laminates can be drilled into using a HSS drill bit designed for drilling steel. Start with a pilot hole and work up the diameter until the desired hole size is achieved. Any aramid/diolen fluff can be cut off with a sharp Stanley blade or scalpel.
No, this Kevlar® fabric is only available in its natural yellow finish.
In it's fabric form as sold, it's like a woven cloth, soft and flexible so yes it can be quite easily folded back on itself. Once laminated with a resin, the material would cure stiff as the resin solidifies.

Great, mechanically it performs exactly as expected. However I don't think I appreciated just how UV sensitive Kevlar is. Straight off the roll it is pale yellow. A few weeks indoors with only ambient daylight is enough to darken it to a more golden hue. A single afternoon in the sun would tan it significantly. Some sort of UV protection is clearly necessary, but I also learned the hard way that the level of protection offered by, say, a polyester gelcoat is proportional to its thickness. If you brush it on, the Kevlar will tan more rapidly in the thin areas so the brush marks begin to develop in the part like some sort of photographic process!
