This incredibly light woven glass fibre reinforcement, at only 25gsm, is just about as light a fabric as can be laminated by hand. Even off the roll the fabric is almost transparent and incredibly thin. The weave pitch is a diminutive 24 picks per centimetre!

Typical Uses

Such a light fabric is used almost exclusively by radio controlled aircraft builders and U.A.V. (Unmanned Air Vehicle) builders wanting to laminate very thin skins of GRP onto aircraft wings and fuselages as a wing skin glass cloth or fibreglass wing skin.

This woven 'E' glass does not include any chemical binders and therefore is suitable for use with any resin system including epoxy, polyester and vinylester.

How to Buy

This 25g woven glass cloth is 1m (39") wide and the fabric is sold by the linear metre. The unit price shown is for 1 linear metre, volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of fabric. In the 'Qty' box, enter the number of linear metres you require.

Small Quantities are Folded

Woven glass reinforcement is not considered a cosmetic reinforcement and, as such, small quantities - up to 5m - will be carefully folded in a pack. This avoids long package surcharges and therefore reduces the shipping price you will pay and does not affect the performance of the material.

Orders for quantities in excess of 5m will be supplied on a roll.

If you need your fabric to be supplied on a roll for a particular application then please ensure you place an order for 5m or more.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?Ask our technical team a question.

For wet-lay lamination you will use approximately the same weight of resin as the weight of the fabric. For example, with a 200gsm cloth, for 1 square metre you will have 200g of fabric and thus will need 200g of resin to wet it out, plus a small amount of wastage for the brush and mixing pot.

You can purchase a sample of our glass cloth here.

The manufacturer has not been able to provide any specific CTE data for the woven glass.  However, e-glass, which is what this fabric is made from, has a nominal CTE of 5.4 µm/m-°C for temperatures between -30 and 250°C.

This fabric has no added supporting net or coating and as such does remain very flexible meaning tight curves and corners should present no problem in terms of getting the fabric to conform.

I'm afraid we don't have detailed technical data specifically for this specification of glass fibre but I can tell you that the fibre used is EC5 5,5 which is a very standard glass fibre. Since you know the areal weight is 25gsm and 50% of fibres are in the warp sheet (0 degrees) and 50% are in the weft sheet (90 degrees) then you can derive any data you need using the mechanical properties for the fibre alone. Here's a link to the EC5 5,5 on 900gpa which includes a good amount of mechanical data for the fibre.
