FUSIONFIX™ GP2 is a high-performance spray adhesive designed specifically for temporary positioning of fibre reinforcements, core materials, inserts and vacuum bagging consumables during resin infusion and other composites laminating processes.
Its combination of high tack, which requires only minimal application, and special formulation, allows the adhesive to be used with polyester, vinylester and epoxy resin systems without detectible change to the mechanical properties of the cured laminate.
Although FUSIONFIX™ GP2 is clear, it is not recommended for tacking reinforcement directly to the mould surface in cosmetically critical infusions using epoxy resin, where FUSIONFIX™ EP should be used.
Recommended Uses
FUSIONFIX GP2 is recommended for all tacking and positioning needs including positioning of surface plies, backing plies, core materials and bagging consumables for all resin systems including epoxy, polyester and vinylester, except for tacking the first layer of reinforcement to the mould face of cosmetically critical components using epoxy resin.

Advantages
Resin Compatibility
Vinylester and Polyester Resin
FUSIONFIX™ GP2 is 100% compatible with polyester and vinylester resins and will dissolve fully into the resin matrix when used with these systems. FUSIONFIX GP2 will leave no residue on the mould or component when used with polyester or vinylester resin systems.
Epoxy Resin
Although GP2 does not dissolve in epoxy resin, it is compatible with epoxy resin and when used appropriately will result in no measurable reduction in mechanical performance or cosmetic contamination such as milkiness or discoloration in the cured laminate. However, because GP2 is not dissolved by epoxy resin, spraying it directly onto the mould surface will leave a tacky residue on both the mould and the component after demoulding. This residue can be easily wiped away with a mild solvent such as IPA but doing so will leave a slight texture on the component surface where the particles of adhesive have been lifted out and may also remove release agent from the mould.
When working with epoxy resin and wanting to tack reinforcement directly to the mould surface, we would recommend using FUSIONFIX™ EP which is epoxy-based and will not leave a tacky residue on the part or mould. FUSIONFIX GP2 can then be used for subsequent plies, core materials and bagging consumables, where its higher tack and longer working time may be preferable over FUSIONFIX EP.
