MEKP Catalyst for polyester and vinylester resin and gelcoat systems including our GP Polyester Resin, Clear Polyester Gel Coat and Uni-Mould system.
MEKP Catalyst is typically used as a polyester resin catalyst, fibreglass catalyst or vinylester resin systems at a ratio of between 1 and 3%, according to the pot-life and cure speed required and the ambient temperature. Always follow the guidelines that accompany your specific resin system.
Further Information
Safety Information
MEKP is a powerful oxidiser and corrosive. Please observe the health and safety data.
Pack Sizes for Shipping
Due to strict shipping regulations concerning MEKP, online orders for kit sizes of 250ml and 500ml will be shipped as multiple 125ml bottles. This keeps the MEKP under 'limited quantity' shipping regulations which avoids much higher shipping charges and potential delays and incurs no extra cost compared to larger pack sizes.

The reason we can’t ship MEKP outside of the UK is because it is highly oxidizing, and standard carrier services do not permit it to be transported.
However you can purchase MEKP from any suppliers of composite materials including fibreglass (GRP) shops, roofing suppliers, boat buildings, car bodyshops etc. There is nothing special about the MEKP we supply, you can ask at your local supplier for ‘Standard reactivity MEKP’; brands such as Andanox KP9, Akperox A30, Butanox M50 (Akzo Nobel) are all suitable and widely available.
MEKP will NOT work as a catalyst for any epoxy resin - the resin will NOT cure. The chemistry of the two resin systems is completely different. Epoxy needs the correct matching hardener added in the correct mixing ratio to achieve a proper cure.
As the density of MEKP is very close to 1, you can use it either by volume or by weight.
MEKP is colourless so is not going to cause any issues with colour changes with the resin itself.
