Carbon Kevlar bodied Time Attack Race Car

Ilya of RuskiWeldFab wanted to enter TIme Attack so bought a Renault Clio 172 for £400 from eBay to make the basis of the Race Car. He then set about building the fastest Clio 172 in the UK and filming it for his YouTube channel.

Competing in Time Attack in Club Pro 2WD class. 99% of the work was done by himself in the shed. Running the original F4R engine that has been turbocharged, the car now features 430 Bhp and weighs only 980kg.

To achieve this weight and offset the weight of the heavy roll cage and turbocharger, most of the original panels have been replaced with home made Carbon Kevlar panels. These were made by Resin Infusion for weight saving and performance reasons.

The panels made so far include, the roof, bonnet, front and rear bumpers, front and rear wings, splitter, rear diffuser, boot panel, air intake, fuel tank enclosure and flat under floor. Next on the list to produce are Carbon Kevlar doors and rear boot hatch.
