This specially made steel spring is intended to line our 8mm ID Silicone Vacuum Hose to make the hose suitable for high pressure autoclave use or turn the standard hose into a virtually uncrushable vacuum hose for general use.

To avoid having a weak point where the spring meets the connector on the end of the hose, the spring has been ingeniously designed to be be a tight fit into a specially sized 10mm Hose-Tail Barb Fitting meaning that the spring itself terminates inside the barb fitting whilst the vacuum hose pushes onto the outside of the barb fitting.

The resulting connection provides complete pressure and crush resistance right to the end of the fitting and means that no special tools are required to make your own custom length vacuum hoses for oven, autoclave or general use.

How to Use

This spring is intended to line our 8mm ID Silicone Vacuum Hose. You will need a 10mm ID (Spring Compatible) Hose-Tail Barb for both ends of your hose.

  1. Push one end of the spring into the inside bore of the 10mm ID (Spring Fit) Hose-Tail Barb. You will need to push hard and turn the spring anti-clockwise as you do. Turning the spring anti-clockwise contracts the spring and reduces its diameter. Aim to push and twist the spring at least 10mm inside the barb fitting.
  2. Cut your desired length of 8mm ID Silicone Vacuum Hose.
  3. Thread the silicone hose over the spring all the way to the barb. Push the hose firmly over the barb.
  4. At the other end of the hose, cut the spring to be just a few millimetres longer than the vacuum hose using side-cutters. You can stretch the spring to create some 'slack' which you should twist and thread into the second hose-tail barb.
  5. Once firmly in place, push the silicone hose of the second hose-tail barb.
  6. Your oven/autoclave/vacuum hose is complete.
