Further Information
Engineered for Performance and Reliability
The vacuum chamber is manufactured from sturdy 4mm mild-steel and finished with a durable grey powder-coating. A clear 20mm acrylic lid provides perfect visibility into the chamber during the degassing operation whilst a custom silicone seal ensures reliable and fast sealing of the chamber.
The lid includes a handle for easy removal and is designed so that it can be hung safely on the back of the chamber during loading and unloading. High quality valves, fittings and a glycerine-filled vacuum gauge complete the chamber and ensure years of trouble-free service.
Valve Layout
For maximum durability, the valves and vacuum gauge are all mounted separately to the chamber.
The air-inlet valve is fitted with an inline filter to moderate airflow and prevent airborne contamination from being drawn until the chamber during repressurisation. The vacuum side is also valved meaning the chamber can be isolated from the pump when the pump is not running; essential for vacuum pumps that do not feature an integral non-return valve.
The vacuum valve is supplied fitted with an 8mm hose-tail barb fitting and length of high quality 8mm ID silicone hose for easy connection to your vacuum pump.
Option for 1/2" BSP Vacuum Connection
Should you wish to connect the chamber to a high capacity vacuum pump using 1/2" BSP hose and fittings, simply remove the reducing bush on the vacuum port to utilise the larger diameter 1/2 " BSP port.
Use with Acrylic Resins, Solvented Resins and Solvents
Whilst clear acrylic provides the best combination of clarity, durability and practicality for the vast majority of applications, it is highly susceptible to attack from solvents such as acetone and styrene, and acrylic compounds such as methacrylate ester. This is true for all potential lid materials (such as Plexiglass, Perspex and polycarbonate).
For this reason, the chamber must NOT be used for the degassing of acrylic resins (such as 'Cactus Juice' methacrylate) or styrene-borne resins such as polyesters and vinylesters. Use of the chamber to degas such materials will weaken the integrity of the lid and ultimately result in failure.
It is also essential to never use solvents such as acetone, alcohol or MEK to clean the lid.
Detailed Instructions
Apart from a vacuum pump, the DC-26S steel vacuum chamber is supplied with everything you need to get degassing right out of the box. Simply attach the vacuum valves to the chamber and connect the chamber to your pump using supplied vacuum hose. Detailed instructions for both assembly and daily use are inscluded.
