R210 is a high-stretch FEP release film without any perforations. It has a maximum service temperature of 210°C, is ultra-thin and conformable and provides perfect release from a wide variety resin systems making it an industry standard release film for prepreg lamination. It is also suitable for wrapping over any material to provide a reliable release barrier and can also be stretched over wet laminate in repair operations.
1.53m (60") wide. Available to buy online in a 5lm folded pack, by the linear metre or in full 153lm rolls.

In common with bagging film, the flexibility and conformability of the release film can make a significant difference to the quality of the cured laminate, especially to the prevalence of pin-holing and corner voiding.
Typisch gebruik:
R210 can be used for the following processes:
- Out-of-autoclave prepreg vacuum bagging
- Autoclave prepreg vacuum bagging
- High temperature applications (up to 210°C)
- Wrapping over surfaces or forms as a reliable release barrier
- Stretching over wet laminate to consolidate and improve the finish of in situ repairs.
R210 is just 13µm thick resulting in excellent elongation and conformability making it easier to ensure that the release film is down properly against the laminate, reducing corner bridging and improving consolidation, especially for sensitive out-of-autoclave processing.
As an FEP film, R210 also offers the potential for high temperature processing (up to 210°C) along with excellent chemical resistance and self-release from a wide range of resins including epoxy, polyester, vinylester and phenolics.

R210 will leave a gloss finish on laminates that are cured in contact with it making R210 also suitable for a range of repair applications where the film can be pulled tight over a wet-lay or prepreg repair.

Yes, it woudl be fine to use the release film in this way. Being FEP it's none-stick to just about all resin systems and it has a high temperature tollerance. Because the film is thin however, it would be vulnerable to accidental tearing so you may need to replace it periodically.
If I understand you correctly, your idea would be to coat a pattern in EG60 tooling gelcoat and then, whilst the gelcoat is still wet, to stretch the R210 release film over the wet gelcoat in order to give the gel a smoother finish? If this is your idea then I guess it's possible this could work but how well it works would certainly be affected by the shape of the pattern. If your pattern has quite smooth contours already and is the sort of shape that a film could easily be wrapped around without created tight spots, bridging, or wrinkles then use of the film *might* be beneficial. However, if your shape is more complex and the film will be applied in a more 'piecemeal' way then I don't think you'll get much benefit from using it.
To get the best surface on a pattern, I'm afraid that the traditional methods are probably still the most effective, especially if you use the right materials. I can't recommend our PCP Pattern Coat Primer highly enough as a means of surfacing a pattern. You'll have seen us use it in multiple tutorials and it really is the fastest and most effective way to get a good surface on a pattern.
