Formula Student Car 2024
Here at SUR, our project has involved designing a car from concept and building it in house. This has been achieved through the process of manufacturing multiple new parts, both in house and with the help of our sponsors.
Our chassis this year is slightly smaller than it has been in previous years and it has been created using T45 Steel whilst our bodywork and aerodynamics have been created from carbon fibre Kevlar.
Furthermore, this year we have had new additions towards the car such as creating a full aero package and a custom impact attenuator which has been designed and tested by a member of our team.
Additionally, we are introducing E85 fuel as it is a more sustainable alternative in comparison to the petrol that was used last year.
At SUR we have aimed to create a successful and reliable car which has taken hard work and dedication from all of our team members.
ABOUT STAFFORDSHIRE UNIVERSITY RACING TEAM
Staffordshire Uni Racing are entering their eighth year of competition with their seventh dynamic vehicle. The team have accomplished many successes in recent years.
In 2021, they won the 1st year vehicle class, placed 2nd overall and achieved the fastest lap award. In 2023, they finished 2nd overall and achieved the fastest egress award.
These achievements have cemented SUR as one of the UK's front-running teams.
As a small team of less than 30, they pride themselves on their build quality and reliability. This quality is evidenced by being the only team in the competitions history to be the first through scrutineering two years in a row.
The team aim to build on their successes and are targeting another overall top 5 finish in 2024.
