This product is not classed as dangerous goods for transport and can be shipped to all destinations without restriction.
Uncured prepreg materials are stored at -20°C and are shipped still frozen from our facility. This prepreg has an 'out-life' of at least 30 days at room temperature and so typical delivery times will still leave plenty of safe 'out-life' remaining.
During summer months or periods of hot weather, it is recommended to order prepregs at the start of the week (Monday or Tuesday) to avoid adding extra shipping days over the weekend.
Unless you plan to use the product immediately, it should be placed into frozen storage as soon as possible on receipt.
The packaged size of this product exceeds 1.2m in length and so an additional handling surcharge (charged by the courier) will be included in the quoted shipping cost.

Lighter 3k surface ply for our XPREG® XC130 autoclave-cure prepreg carbon fibre system. This is an uncured prepreg material and requires an oven or autoclave to cure it.
This 210gsm 3k reinforcement uses a high strength TR30S fibre for maximum performance and 2x2 twill weave for excellent drape characteristics. It can be used on its own, in one or more plies, or together with a heavier backing ply for thicker laminates.
This prepreg reinforcement is 1.25m (1250mm) wide and sold in a choice of prepacked roll lengths.

XPREG® XC130 is an epoxy-based component autoclave prepreg carbon fibre system with a 130°C maximum service temperature developed for autoclave or other positive pressure cure.
This toughened resin system offers excellent mechanical properties whilst its clear formulation and excellent surface finish make it suitable for the manufacture of visual quality carbon fibre components. XC130 autoclave prepreg carbon fibre surface layer has a long out-life with an intermediate tack level making for easy handling and laminating whilst its variable cure temperature from 80°C allows a wide range of mould systems to be used.
XC130 is fully compatible with our XA120 adhesive film for the construction of complex composite structures, including honeycomb or foam cored laminates.
The autoclave cure prepreg carbon fibre 3k 210g material listed on this page is recommended for use as a surface ply, typically backed-up with one or more layers of XC130 450g 12k Backing Ply.
Typical Uses
XC130 is the recommended system for the manufacture of both structural and cosmetic applications where components will be cured in an autoclave or otherwise under positive pressure (such as heated platen press).
The combination of excellent mechanical performance, visual quality appearance and class-A surface finish make XC130 prepregs suitable for a wide range of applications from large-scale structural components to high-precision decorative parts.

How to Buy
All XPREG® prepregs are stored on site in our freezers. To reduce handling time and allow same-day dispatch, prepregs are available in pre-cut roll lengths. Choose the roll length you require from the drop-down list at the top of the page. When ordering a full roll of fabric the drop-down list shows the typical roll length but please allow for length variance of plus or minus 1m which has already been factored into the low unit price of our full length rolls.
Your XPREG® prepreg is sealed in air-tight packaging and will ship from us still frozen. Please see the transport tab for further details and important information about delivery.
The Sample Pack Contains two 400x300mm (15.7x11.8") pieces of pre-preg.
Further Information
Curing
XPREG® XC130 is designed to be autoclave cured or otherwise cured under positive pressure (such as heated platen or pressurised bladder).
Initial cure is possible from 80°C although service temperature will be determined by the final cure temperature.
CURE CYCLES AND RESULTING Tg
Cure Temp | Comments | Initial Min Cure Time | Resulting Tg |
---|---|---|---|
80°C | (Minimum) | 16hrs | 90°C |
90°C | 8hrs | 100°C | |
100°C | 4hrs | 110°C | |
120°C | (Maximum) | 2hrs | 120°C |
130°C | Post Cure | 2hrs | 140°C |
Suitable Moulds/Tooling
Moulds/tools should be epoxy-based composite moulds, epoxy tooling board or metal. In all cases, moulds must be temperature stable to a minimum of 85°C but ideally to 120°C.
Fully Compatible:
It is not recommended to use hand laminated Uni-Mould tools in an autoclave due to the likelihood that voids within the moulds will cause blisters and distortion in the mould at elevated temperature and pressure.
Storage and Handling
When not in use, XPREG® prepregs should be kept frozen at -18°C (0°F) in sealed plastic packaging. When ready to use, the material should be removed from the freezer and allowed to thaw fully to room temperature before being removed from the packaging.
Remaining material should be re-sealed before returning to the freezer to avoid the risk of moisture uptake.

Unfortunately we do not stock any pre-pregs with a flexible resin. The only flexible resin we supply is our EF80 Flexible Epoxy Resin which is suitable for wet lay and vacuum bagged processes.
To achieve a good quality pinhole free cosmetic finish, we would recommend at least 3 bar as the minimum pressure applied during the curing process.
The weight referred to is the weight of the raw carbon cloth used in the Pre-preg manufacture, which in this case is 210gsm. During the toll-pregnation process, 42% resin is added to give an overall weight of 362gsm.
Yes, in principle XPREG XC130 can be fully cured at 120C for 1hr. Normally it is recommended to allow the component and the mould to cool to room temperature before demoulding, however, there may be some advantages to demoulding the component at a higher temperature when curing carbon fibre in an aluminium mould as this might help to avoid problems where the aluminium shrinks as it cools (more than the carbon fibre does) which can exert pressure on the component and also make it difficult to remove from the mould.
If you need to reduce the cure time to below 1hr, we do have alternative resin systems designed to 'snap cure' in as little as a few minutes but these systems do come with compromises (particularly their reduced out-life) and would have minimum order quantities. If you have an ongoing volume requirement, please contact our sales team by email and we would be happy to discuss.
Yes, absolutely. The resin systems used in XC110 and XC130 will co-cure alongside each other perfectly. For OOA (out-of-autoclave) curing you should follow the cure cycle for the XC110 system.
